Military Band

702 Lynx Squadron has a long history of having a military band.  Amongst the bands accomplishment includes placing in the Saskatoon Music Festival and participating in the Santa Clause Parade.   The band members participate in marching band on the squadrons parade, but also participate in Music Concentration, Music Level Testing and have had the opportunity to participate in small ensemble performance.   Members of the 702 Lynx Squadron Band have augmented the 45 Jervis Bay RCSCC Band for the annual Remembrance Day Ceremony at Credit Union Center.   In 2014, a small ensemble of an officer, and several cadets from the 702 Lynx Squadron Band performed for a Museum Opening at the Diefenbaker Canada Center.

The 702 Lynx Squadron band has qualified staff to assist the cadets in their musical development.   Squadron staff have university education in music such as Capt Ivy Armstrong has a B.Mus. in Music Education, and Capt Aaron Vopni has completed four years of study in a B.Mus. Performance Degree program.   In addition Capt Ivy Armstrong has played with the Saskatoon Youth Orchestra, Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra, University of Saskatchewan Wind Ensemble, and Collegium Musicum Saskatchewanese.  Capt Aaron Vopni has played with the Saskatoon Youth Orchestra, University of Saskatchewan Wind Ensemble, University of Saskatchewan Jazz Ensemble, Collegium Musicum Saskatchewanese. Most recently Capt Aaron Vopni can be seen playing for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Pep Band, and recently was recorded as a member of band for a local jazz vocalist on a new album.
